I teach Beauty Branding at FIDM, an advanced marketing class focused on the industry. And to make it more applicable and interesting I ask friends at local brands to sponsor class projects.
This past Fall, Urban Decay and Smashbox were our focus brands. And last week Urban Decay invited a few students from their group to come and present their findings.

The presentation went very well and I really believe that the best way to learn something is guided application. Whatever industry is your passion the most important elements to succeed are:
- Focus Groups - surveying 50 FIDM students
- Store Visits - analyzing sales and merchandising
- Comp Analysis - top sellers in the industry
I was so proud of these girls as they walked through their findings with the UD sales team. And I thought how important it is that we all find both pleasure and pride in our work.
